What to Expect During Your Hard Surface Installation

Congratulations on the purchase of your new, beautiful hard surface flooring. We are grateful to be a part of this transformation! This guide will help give you an idea of what to expect during your hard surface installation. We have four popular hard surface options, preparation and installation is relatively similar between all four, if you are unsure what surface you are having installed, please refer to your invoice.

Preparation

To prepare for installation day, we ask that you safely store all of your personal, electronic, fragile and valuable items that are in the scheduled work areas. If you plan to have us move any beds and/or mattresses, please remove all bedding. Bedding is a personal item. For the safety of everyone, we ask that all fur babies are kept in a safe space and away from work areas.

Please ensure that your HVAC is working properly as a temperature-controlled home is a requirement by the manufacturer for most flooring types. The temperature should remain between 65-80 degrees during installation. Depending on what surface you purchased, acclimation may be necessary, if so, we will schedule a delivery date ensuring your product is acclimated and ready for installation.

Installation Day

Our team is scheduled to arrive between 9-10am unless other arrangements have been made. A team member may need access to water during your project, please direct them to where they can get water from, in addition, if there is a restroom your team is welcome to use please show them to it during the initial walk through. If you are having laminate, engineered wood or hardwood installed, power tools will be needed, if you have a particular area that you wish to have your team set up their tools please make them aware during the initial walkthrough.

We will begin by moving furniture. Any home renovation is construction, during construction, you should expect noise and some dust. If you are having laminate, engineered wood or hardwood installed, please expect mild sawdust. Your team is trained on how to minimize dust spreading through the home; however, it is impossible to contain it all. There will be vibrations, which is why it is important to remove anything fragile from the walls as the vibrations may knock down wall decorations. Expect paint touchups on baseboards and walls. Our team is trained to be careful, but touchups are part of the process.

The timeframe of your installation varies based on room size, the condition of the subfloor and type of flooring. If your floor is a glue down product, please expect your installation to take longer than average. Communicate directly with your service provider for more accurate time estimates. If you have any questions or special requests beforehand, feel free to let us know—we’re here to make this as seamless as possible.

Post Installation

Your team will do a thorough clean up after your flooring installation. All previous flooring will be removed from your home, unless other arrangements were previously made. Today’s floors are made to be easily maintained. We do not recommend using harsh chemicals on your new investment. Refer to your manufacturer's specifications for cleaning guidelines.
