Most engineered hardwood we sell is oak, but maple, walnut, hickory, and a handful of exotic species are available too. Plank widths run from a classic 3" up to a designer 9"-wide board. Finishes range from clear matte to wire-brushed, hand-scraped, fumed, and reactive-stained European looks - bring us a photo from Pinterest and we'll tell you what it actually is.
Professional installation, subfloor first
Our installers assess your subfloor before anything else - moisture testing on concrete, joist inspection on plywood, flatness checks throughout. From there we recommend floating, glue-down, or nail-down based on what will actually perform best in that room. Every quote includes baseboard removal and reinstall, transitions to adjacent rooms, and full disposal of your existing floor, which is part of the same floor demolition and prep process we use across every job.
Engineered Hardwood - frequently asked questions
Yes - if the wear layer is 3mm or thicker, it can be sanded and refinished once or twice. Thinner wear layers (1-2mm) should be screened and recoated instead of fully sanded. Our refinishing crew can confirm your wear-layer thickness on-site.
Water-resistant, not waterproof. It tolerates an occasional spill far better than solid wood, but standing water from a dishwasher leak or burst pipe should still be cleaned up right away.
Yes - this is one of engineered hardwood's biggest advantages over solid wood. We follow manufacturer guidelines on subfloor temperature and acclimation time to keep the boards from gapping.
Floating installs faster and is easier to repair later. Glue-down feels more solid underfoot and runs quieter. Over concrete we typically recommend glue-down; over plywood, either method works well.
